Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) and Jan Midrla (Birel / TM) shared the front row of final 2 of KZ2 under the blue sky and the sun of La Conca, followed by Daniele Delli Compagni (CRG / TM) and Loris Spinelli (Tony Kart / Vortex). At the lights, Midrla jumped Zanchetta, while the young Marijn Kremers (Birel / TM) hesitated and forfeited his fifth position. Riccardo Negro (DR / TM) wasn’t slow to seize third position ahead of Spinelli, Francesco Celenta (Zanardi / TM) and Joel Johansson (Energy / TM). Delli Compagni disappeared. Negro took second on lap 4 and was 1.5” from the leader. Maxime Roy (Birel / TM) also retired.
The gaps quickly became quite large between the top 9 drivers. In fifth, Joel Johansson (Energy / TM) returned again to Spinelli who reacted by closing on Midrla. Meanwhile, Negro was pushing, halving the gap to the leader, Zanchetta. Johansson took 4th place on the 15th lap with Negro in the wheeltracks of Zanchetta. The Danilo Rossi driver took the lead under braking at the hairpin 2 laps before the finish. He thought he had won and raised his arms on the line, but Zanchetta didn’t give up and won the race by 0.02s!
